Staring our excursion with a 30 minute drive to Palaiokastritsa, a village situated in the northwest side of the Island. As Corfu has been suggested to be the mythical island of the Phaeacians, and the bay of Palaiokastritsa to be the place where Odysseus disembarked and met Nausica for the first time. The monastery in Palaiokastritsa dates from 1225 and there is a museum inside. It is also famous about the beautiful beaches and the boat trips that take you along the west coast of the Island.One of the finest resorts on the island with wonderful crystal clear beaches.
Then we carry on visiting Lakones which is up the Bella Vista hill above Paleokastritsa where it is well known that the view is spectacular. There you will find Castelino reastuarant where you can have a coffee, take photos and just enjoy the view. The British Author Lawrence Durrell has described Bella vista as the most beautiful view in the Mediterranean.
Last but not least we visit the center of the Island. Corfu old Town is a combination of the medieval and the modern style. The old and New Fortress are breathtaking, taking a stroll in town you will also see Espianade Square and the Palace of St. Michael and St.George, which once was a home to British rulers. You will also have the opportunity to walk the narrow streets and see the St. Spiridon church n the heart of Corfu, and walk through the Liston which was once open only to aristocrats’.
